Not every family needs traditional five-day-a-week child care. Some parents work part-time, have rotating schedules, work from home, share care with relatives, or only need care on certain days. At Creative Home Academy and Preschool, we encourage families to establish their child care arrangements before the need arises. We are unable to accommodate last-minute child care requests.

Part-time child care allows families to have a dependable child care arrangement without necessarily attending five days per week.
Depending on the program, families may establish certain days or reserve care in advance based on availability.
This can work well for families who:
- Work part-time, hybrid, or nontraditional schedules
- Have rotating work schedules
- Share child care responsibilities with grandparents or relatives
- Need care on designated days each week
- Want their child to experience socialization and structured learning
- Need occasional care that can be planned in advance
- Have school-age children who may need care during scheduled school breaks
The key is planning ahead.
Why Parents Should Establish Child Care Before They Need It
Finding safe, quality child care takes time.
Parents should have an opportunity to tour the facility, meet the staff, understand the program, review policies, and determine whether the environment is right for their child.
The child care provider also needs time to make sure all required documentation is complete and determine whether space and appropriate staffing are available.
Waiting until the night before — or the morning care is needed — can leave families with very limited options.
Instead, think of child care planning the same way you would think about choosing a pediatrician or school: find a provider you trust before you need the service.

Children benefit from knowing their environment, teachers, routines, and expectations. Planning ahead can make transitions into care much easier.
Required Documents Are Already Completed
When health records, emergency contacts, authorized pickup information, and enrollment forms are already on file, parents don’t have to scramble to gather important documents.
Parents Can Plan Their Schedules More Confidently
Knowing that child care has been arranged allows parents to schedule work, appointments, meetings, classes, and other responsibilities with greater confidence.
Children Still Receive a Structured Experience
Part-time doesn’t have to mean less quality. Children can still benefit from routines, age-appropriate learning, peer interaction, meals, play, and developmental experiences.
What Should Parents Look for in a Program?
Whether you need care for an infant, toddler, preschooler, or school-age child, take time to evaluate the program.
Look for a properly licensed facility, qualified caregivers, appropriate supervision, secure arrival and departure procedures, clean classrooms, clear health and safety policies, age-appropriate activities, good parent communication, and clearly defined scheduling policies.
Most importantly, tour the facility in advance.
You should know where your child will be spending their day before the first day of care.
What Do Parents Need to Do in Advance?
At Creative Home Academy and Preschool, families interested in part-time or flexible child care should complete the enrollment process before care is needed.
Parents should:
- Schedule and complete a facility tour. Meet our team, see the environment, ask questions, and learn about the program.
- Complete required enrollment paperwork. This includes emergency contacts, authorized pickup information, health information, and other required forms.
- Provide an updated immunization/shot record.
- Provide a current physical.
- Attend parent orientation. Parents need to understand our policies, procedures, communication systems, health and safety expectations, and daily routines before their child begins care.
- Request and schedule care in advance. Flexible care is subject to classroom availability, staffing, age-group capacity, and advance scheduling requirements.
Completing enrollment does not mean that care is automatically available on any requested day. Care must be arranged and confirmed in advance.
Please Don’t Wait Until the Last Minute
We understand that life can be unpredictable. However, quality child care requires appropriate staffing, classroom capacity, completed records, and preparation for every child who enters the program.
For those reasons, Creative Home Academy and Preschool is not able to provide last-minute or same-day child care services.
If you believe your family may need part-time or flexible child care — even if you don’t need it today — now is the time to start planning.
Tour the facility. Complete your enrollment paperwork. Update your child’s shot record and physical. Attend parent orientation. Learn how scheduling works.
Then, when you know you’ll need care, you’ll already have the foundation in place to request it in advance.
